  Professor Brandon strikes an effective balance between discipline and fun in the kids' classes. My sons are always excited to go to class, and the education they've received at Core Academy has helped bring them out of their shells and build confidence to the point where they competed in their first Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament (very proud dad over here). I have since started training myself, and it has been a special way for my sons and me to bond and share an enriching activity. The culture at Core Academy is welcoming, safe, and fun in both the adult and kids' classes. Ten out of ten. #keepshowingup

  I joined Core Academy with no martial arts background, wanting to train with my son, be a positive example, and help him build healthy habits and self-defense skills.<br><br>What began as support for him became one of the best decisions we've made. Now, well over 40 and still with some gas in the tank, I refused to ease into a "pickleball" lifestyle. Jiu-Jitsu has humbled and rebuilt me in unexpected ways. It demands intense focus on tiny details and mental toughness. The journey is frustrating, exhausting, yet deeply rewarding. After three years, I have sharper mental clarity, real confidence, and resilience I've never gained from any other sport.<br><br>We're incredibly fortunate to have found Core Academy and coach Brandon. While coach Brandon is a skilled technician and teacher, his true gift is the culture he's built and his investment in every student, from the highest level to beginner kids.<br><br>For my son, Coach Brandon has been transformative.   In short: In my opinion, outstanding instruction combined with a inclusive culture, make Professor Brandon's Core Academy the best martial arts experience in western Connecticut and northern Westchester.<br>Professor Brandon is not only a 3 stripe Black Belt with 20+ years in the sport, he also holds black belt competency in in other martial arts, but crucially, he is an extraordinarily intuitive teacher and coach.<br>The culture is warm and welcoming, with a common thread of 'as one gets better all get better'.<br><br>If you have the BJJ bug or are just very curious, give Core Academy a try. BJJ is not an easy sport to master, but it can be astonishing rewarding and fun. That said, instruction and culture matter to a great degree and Core has much of both.<br>Highly recommended.

  Brandon is an exceptional instructor who has built an amazing school with an incredibly welcoming and supportive culture. Having trained in several different schools in various geographies over the years, I can confidently say that Brandon stands out as a truly gifted teacher and community-builder. I could not recommend Brandon and Core Academy more vehemently.

  I began training at Core this past fall and will be hitting my 100th class this week. I began my jiu jitsu journey after watching my son participate in the youth program for 6 months. My only regret is not starting sooner.<br><br>Professor Brandon has been a wonderful leader and instructor. He is extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, funny, disciplined, etc. He's everything you want in a martial arts teacher.<br><br>The culture, coaches, community, curriculum, and facility are all top notch. The Core community warmly welcomed my family, and we are so thankful to be part of it.<br><br>Core Academy has given us so much. I am so glad to be back in shape, learning self defense, setting goals & working towards them, making friends, and setting an example for my children.<br><br>Most importantly, I am thankful to share this with my son and watch him and his peers learn jiu jitsu and other life lessons as they progress through the ranks. I hope to get my other kids started when they are older.
