Though its roots trace back to Sicily, Italian ice as we know it today was introduced by Italian immigrants during the early 20th century. Today, the dessert is enjoyed across the country and is particularly popular in the Northeast. Its light and refreshing texture, along with the variety of flavors to choose from, makes Italian ice a favorite dessert for people of all ages.<br><br>Ralph's Famous Italian Ice has been around since 1928, Ralph Silvestro started selling "water ice" around Staten Island. If one's familiar with the semi-frozen Italian dessert, granita, Ralph's water ice is a bit like this Sicilian favorite.<br><br>Located on a busy Boulevard in Hasbrouck Heights, my partner, his family, and I have returned to this establishment on July 4th Eve. Explored their menu consisting of a variety of homemade flavors and ice creams to choose from, and they can do a mix of flavors. We decided on Peanut Butter Crunch, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Apple Cobbler, and Pineapple Italian Ice.<br
