My last contract just ended and my manager tried to transition me to cognizant. They first reached out to me asking my desire rate. They said they would negotiate a better rate. Later they said the budget from the client is low to work with. Then my manager told me she gave them green light to move forward meaning she paid them more. I asked will I get a higher rate. This woman asked to talk on the phone and during the call she asked for my rate (I later found out this is illegal in CA) I shared and then she said they couldnt go any higher. I later tried to ask her what was the reason she asked the rate. She said she didnt remember. I filed a complaint to DLSE because I feel like I was being treated unfairly.
