We offer art classes & workshops for children to adult year-round in pottery. Pottery classes attract people who want to have fun exploring clay through wheel-throwing, plaster mold making, glaze chemistry and hand-building. From sculpture to functional kitchen wares, students create works in clay in an inspiring studio and supportive environment. Resident ceramic sculptor Agnes Kang teaches everyday with experienced knowledge and passion. Private lessons are available for customized project such as 3D work for college students who want to make imprint on their portfolio.

I'm currently doing a one-month trial at Tobang Ceramic Studio and am having a wonderful experience. Agnes, the studio owner and instructor, is incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. One of the biggest breakthroughs I had was learning from her how to throw larger pieces by switching to a clockwise wheel direction. That immediately improved my technique, if it wasn't for Agnes's instructions, I would have never progressed in pottery.<br><br>What really sets Agnes apart is how thoughtful and caring she is. She regularly brings fresh bread and coffee for her students, which creates such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. She genuinely wants everyone to enjoy their time at the studio and feel part of the community.<br><br>The studio itself is calm, peaceful, and a great place to disconnect and focus on pottery. I always looked forward to class each week. Another bonus is the free parking available in the back, which makes attending classes very convenient.<br><br>The only limitation is tha

Tried to sign up here for class and the owner is immensely difficult to communicate with. Don't know if it's just a language barrier thing. Got confirmation to do a trial class and when I showed up she literally did not remember the conversation or texts. Repeatedly tried to push me around to a different day when that's not really how scheduling or availability works. Overall very frustrating experience.

Tobang is a great place to learn Korean creamics especially if you are into asymmetric forms. I've been learning from Ms.Kang for about 4 years. She makes students feel comfortable.

Ms. Kang is an amazing artist who has dedicated her life to the craft, no doubt she is a great artisan and a decent enough teacher. The problem that I've seen multiple times with her is her pettiness. If she finds a reason to dislike someone, she will deliberately sabotage their work. I can not think of a reason why she would do this but I have seen it multiple times with other students. With her years of expertise, how would she be so careless to smudge people's glazes or put a dent on the most inconspicuous places of her students' work. The place overcharges so much so my advice is to maybe learn the basics here and go over to Charles St. Studios to practice by yourself.
