  I drive a lot for work, so when I started hearing an extremely loud noise coming from my car, I was worried that it was a serious and expensive problem.<br><br>I was all the way in Trenton, NJ when this happened, and there was a Midas right across the street. I brought my car there, and they quoted me $1,400 for the repair. That price didn't seem right to me, so I decided to have my car towed all the way back home to Bergen Brakes & Mufflers.<br><br>Even though they were very busy, they still took the time to look at my car. The next day, they called me and told me the problem was fixed. The total cost was only $91, including adding fluids and everything else they did.<br><br>What a difference -- $91 compared to a $1,400 estimate!<br><br>It turned out that part of the heat shield was hitting the exhaust and the wheels in multiple areas, which was causing the extremely loud noise.   Leaving a negative review for a local mom-and-pop shop is not typically in my wheelhouse, but when an experience costs you $1,300, and you're still dealing with the repair you paid for, something needs to be said.<br><br>In September 2024, the exhaust on my Lexus GS started making a terrible noise, so the car was brought in to have it inspected. After looking it over, they said the exhaust system could not be repaired and needed to be replaced.<br><br>They didn't have access to Lexus parts directly, but explained that they worked with a reputable third-party supplier, and that the replacement would come with a one-year warranty. I went ahead with the repair for about $1,300, and initially, everything was great.<br><br>By the following spring, however, the car developed a pretty terrible rattle when starting that would also intermittently appear while driving.   Great local mechanics! Easy communication and fast great quality work! My exhaust pipe completely rusted off my truck. These guys welded on a new section for a reasonable price and the same day. Truck is finally quiet and sounds like a brand new vehicle again, strongly recommend these guys if you want honest and high quality work!
