Adult Book Discussion: We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter

Inspired by the incredible true story of the Kurc family separated at the start of World War II, this is the story of 2 parents, 5 siblings and others, who miraculously survived and reunited after the war. They are scattered across the globe, facing immense hardship, from ghetto labor and hiding as gentiles to Siberian gulags and fleeing continents, all while driven by the hope of seeing their family again. It's a story of resilience, love, and the triumph of the human spirit, inspired by the author's own family history as Polish Jews. While the elevator is not working, the Book Club will meet on the main floor, in the Parker Room.
