The documentary traces Dorothy Day's path from journalist to co-founder of the Catholic Worker Movement, which grew from a Depression-era newspaper into a nationwide network of houses sheltering the poor, and follows her decades of resistance to war, from World War II through Vietnam. Rare archival footage and interviews with Martin Sheen, Cornel West, and Joan Chittister bring her contradictions to life: grandmother and agitator, pacifist and prisoner, radical and believer.
