Beginner Mah Jongg Class

THIS CLASS IS FULL - Registration is closed We are excited to offer our Beginner Mah Jongg Course again! This course will be offered on the following dates - October 1, October 8, October 15 and October 22, 2026. These dates are all Thursdays and the class will run from 7pm-9pm in the Reading Room. This four-session course is designed specifically for beginners and is a progressive learning experience, with each class building upon the skills and concepts introduced in the previous session. The first session is particularly important, as it provides the foundational instruction needed to participate fully in the remaining classes. Missing the first class makes it difficult to keep pace with the course and may affect the learning experience for other participants. Because Mah Jongg is played in groups and requires a specific number of players at each table, consistent attendance is also important for the smooth operation of the class. Attendance at all four classes is imperative for both individual success and the overall experience of the group. In the past, we have experienced challenges when participants did not attend all sessions, which affected gameplay and instruction for the entire group. To encourage full participation and ensure the best possible experience for everyone, a $40 refundable deposit is required within a few days of notification that you have secured a spot in the class. The deposit, which can be paid in cash only, will be returned in full upon completion of all four class sessions. Please note: should we offer this course again in the future, registration will be opened to the general community, and waitlists will not be carried over from one course to the next. Anyone interested in a future session will need to register through the registration process at that time. Space in this course is limited to 10 participants.
